What They're Saying: Garth Lagerwey

"I’d like to stay focused on the performance of the team. Obviously, for all of us, we have more secure jobs -- myself included -- if the team wins. That’s what we’re focused on, and we’re focused on the team performing well, and the team continuing to make the most of its talent and to bring in more talent."

-- Seattle Sounders general manager Garth Lagerwey on whether he could see firing head coach Sigi Schmid or any coach in midseason. The Sounders are in ninth place in the Western Conference with a 4-6-1 record. (Tacoma News Tribune)

What did they think was going to happen when they sold off their best player without replacing like for like? And apparently this is the manager's fault? Nothing a July venture into the transfer market can't overturn, right?
