Euro 2016: Results and schedule

The final five berths in the Euro 2016 knockout stage will be decided on Wednesday when play in Group E and Group F concludes. Among them are the final two third-place teams. Slovakia and Northern Ireland are already through while Turkey and Albania await the remaining results to see if they will advance.

TUESDAY. Croatia shocked Spain, 2-1, to win Group D and relegate the two-time defending champions to second place and a date with Italy in the round of 16. The side of the bracket with Italy and Spain also includes host France, England and Germany.

Spain led on Alvaro Morata's goal in the seventh minute, but Nikola Kalinic equalized for Croatia later in the first half, ending Spain's shutout streak in European Championship matches (qualifying and finals) at 948 minutes.

The game turned when Croatia keeper Danijel Subasic had saved a penalty from Spain captain Sergio Ramos in the 70th minute. With three minutes left, Ivan Perisic scored on a counterattack to hand  Spain its first loss in 15 matches at the European Championship finals.

Today's results sent Slovakia and Northern Ireland through to the round of 16 as two of the four third-place teams.
