NWSL Rewind: Flash flood of goals ties record

The Western New York Flash tied an NWSL record when it beat the Boston Breakers, 7-1. All seven goals -- including a Jessica McDonald hat trick -- came in the space of 44 minutes.

The only other team to score seven goals in a game was Portland against FC Kansas City in 2014. The Thorns were coached by current Flash coach Paul Riley.

Lynn Williams had two goals and an assists, while Makenzy Doniak added a goal and an assist for the Flash, which has won four of its last five games to move into a tie for second place with the Chicago Red Stars.

The Portland Thorns have opened up a five-point lead in first place thanks to a pair of wins. On Sunday, they came back from a goal down in the last 10 minutes to win, 2-1, at Orlando.
