A $3 million project promises to build 50 fields in New York City

MLS club New York City FC, along with the city of New York, adidas and the U.S. Soccer Foundation, will build 50 junior-sized soccer fields in New York City’s five boroughs over the next five years in a $3 million partnership. The four partners will contribute $750,000 apiece and the $3 million will also cover maintenance of the fields and after-school activities based on the U.S. Soccer Foundation's "Soccer for Success" program. The 50 fields will be built on an array of underused or rundown city property, including existing parks and school playgrounds.
