Dempsey and Jones added to MLS All-Stars

The roster for the MLS Al-Stars for the 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game against Arsenal on July 28 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose was completed with the selection of 13 players by All-Star coach Dominic Kinnear and the two commissioner’s picks.

Six members of the USA's 2016 Copa Centenario team, including starters Clint Dempsey and Jermaine Jones, were named to the team. All but one team -- the Houston Dynamo -- is represented on the All-Stars.

Kyle Beckerman, another of the Copa Centenario picks and one of the commissioner’s picks, leads all players with his ninth selection to the All-Stars. Dempsey earned his sixth selection, and Matt Besler was picked for a fifth time.

The All-Stars include two rookies: Philadelphia's Keegan Rosenberry, who was on the Fan XI, and Chicago's Brandon Vincent, who were taken with the third and fourth picks in the 2016 SuperDraft.

There are 14 other first-time picks, including Andrea Pirlo (New York City), Giovani dos Santos (LA Galaxy) and Didier Drogba (Montreal Impact), who all arrived in the middle of the 2015 MLS season.

I hope Avaya pitch is grass. I know its a peculiarity of mine, but I can't hardly watch a game on turf. I see Drogba is listed, so maybe its grass.

I wonder if Arsenal will play on anything other then grass.

I guess both teams coaches will agree not to high pressure in this game.

Then I hope Kinnear will be sneaky enough to tell his guys to high pressure at least until the first half ends. Is he that smart I mean that sneaky?

Not sure what the interest is to play against MLS except for trying to grow-increase domestic following of the guest team. The risk of injury prior to season start is legit.

This is just another pre-season game for Arsenal. If they didn't tour here, they'd tour in Asia or Australia or somewhere else. It's just marketing. No greater risk of injury in this game than any other pre-season game.

Yes, Avaya has a grass field. I can't remember, did MLS put down grass for the 2014 All-Star game? Bayern, the opponent in 2014, might have played on FieldTurf.

You know what I miss during all star weekend.

There was a celebrity game. It had some profession girls like Mia Hamm in it some retired mens pro and actor and other celebrities in it.

One was the star of the old tv show rat patrol and he was in the movie titanic. Eric Braeden a German what a good player he was you can see he still had it in that game. He won an open cup as a player once.

I miss that celebrity game to bad they are not doing it this year.
