No surprise - Bruce hates the Open Cup
That is probably true. Coaches of pro teams now make the mistake of thinking the open cup is not important.
It is our history in US soccer to win it was a big deal. At least it was for us older guys before the MLS. Even before the old NASL.
In a lot of countries the cup is considered a nuisance or just a distraction from the league. Looks like it's no different in the US unfortunately.
When we did not have a professional league win it your the best club in the US.
Leagues come and go but the open cup is always there.
