U.S. U-19 men down Mauritania, 1-0

The U.S. U-19 men’s national team, competing at the COTIF Tournament in Spain, rebounded from a 2-0 opening loss to Venezuela to beat Mauritania, 1-0, on a goal by the Chicago Fire academy’s Djordje Mihailovic.

The win moved Coach Brad Friedel’s team, which faces Spain on Friday and Bahrain on Monday, into third-place of five-team Group A, behind Venezuela and Spain and ahead of Bahrain and Mauritania.

The top two finishers in Group A and will reach the semifinals against the top two finishers in Group B (Argentina, Mexico, Qatar, Costa Rica, Morocco).
