CCL: Richey shines in Vancouver debut

Goalkeeper Spencer Richey, who has been starring for WFC2 in the USL, made five saves -- all in the first half -- to secure the Vancouver Whitecaps a 1-0 win over Central FC in Trinidad & Tobago in the Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League. Uruguayan Cristian Techera scored the game’s only goal in the 34th minute.

Richey, a product of the University of Washington, was one of five WFC2 players who made the trip, and he made his first-team debut along with WFC2 teammate Brett Levis, who was credited with an assist on Techera's goal along with Erik Hurtado.

Next up in Group C is Sporting KC, which will need to hold serve when it travels to Ato Boldon Stadium in two weeks to face Central FC.
