NASL Rewind: Home wins send Indy Eleven back on top

Eamon Zayed scored his second hat trick of the year in Indy Eleven’s 5-2 win over the Jacksonville Armada on Wednesday and Don Smart  scored in stoppage time to give Indy Eleven a 1-0 win over Ottawa on Sunday. The wins moved the spring champion back into first place of the Fall Season standings.

The wins also extended Indy Eleven’s home win streak to seven games and home unbeaten run to 12. Zayed’s strikes moved him to within a goal of 2016 leading scorer Christian Ramirez, whose Minnesota United fell, 4-0, at home to Miami FC, the expansion club that had won only three of its previous 15 games in 2016. Jonathan Borrajo assisted on three of Miami FC’s goals in the victory.

2016 Leading Scorers
12 Christian Ramirez (Minnesota)
11 Eamon Zayed (Indy Eleven)
8 Michel (Rayo OKC)

Rayo OKC, in its first game since Gerard Nus replaced Alen Marcina as head coach, tied New York, 1-1, to end the Cosmos league-record home winning streak at 10 games. The Cosmos, who equalized Georgios Samaras' early goal with a penalty kick by Adam Moffat after a foul on Lucky Mkosana, remained unbeaten at home in 11 games.
