U.S. Abroad: De la Torre debuts for Fulham

Luca de la Torre, 18, became the latest American to play for Fulham when he debuted for the League Championship team in a 3-2 win over London rival Leyton Orient in the first round of the English League Cup.

Slavisa Jokanovic started eight products of the Fulham academy. De la Torre moved from Southern California to Fulham in 2014 after attending the U.S. U-17 Residency Program and signed a three-year pro contract in 2015.

The midfielder is the sixth member of the 2015 U.S. Under-17 World Cup Team to make his first-team pro debut after Haji Wright (New York Cosmos), Eric Calvillo (New York Cosmos), Christian Pulisic (Borussia Dortmund), Tyler Adams (New York Red Bulls) and Alejandro Zendejas (FC Dallas).

Wright moved to Schalke 04 in Germany after he turned 18. Zendejas recently moved to Chivas Guadalajara for which he debuted on Sunday.
