“We know that some people see Brazil as a third-world country. She has disrespected our nation. Now she has to deal with the consequences.”

Christiane Luizedo on why
she and other Brazilian fans have booed U.S. keeper
Hope Solo, whose comments and posts about the Zika virus infuriated Brazilians. (
New York Times)
If the quote that's shown up on these pages is what they're complaining about, I can only say that some Brazilians are incredibly thin-skinned. Hey! We've got Zika here in Florida, and it's being taken very, very seriously. There's no disrespect shown by Solo, only concern for her health and safety while trying to deal with a disease that has reached epidemic proportions in Brazil.
A 3rd world country??? I don't know anyone who thinks of Brazil as 3rd world. Perhaps that is Christiane Luizedo projecting her own feelings about her own country. Hope only expressed concern, then did research, and made a educated decision that the Zika threat can be avoided with proper preventive care. If anything, they should be embracing Hope for taking the time to do the research and then clearly showing the world that it's okay to travel to Brazil.
Agree!
Actually I do think of Brazil as a third world country. I just hope the US is not seen that way in the future.
