The Power Rankings are based solely on results of league matches and include a team’s record in parentheses and rank last week.

1. FC DALLAS (13-6-6), 1. A goal by Tesho Akindele just minutes after coming on as a sub triggered a burst of four goals within 10 minutes, and FCD -- playing just three days after a draining extra-time defeat of the Galaxy in the Open Cup -- avoided defeat thanks to Max Urruti’s overhead volley of a chip off the woodwork. Its home unbeaten streak is 18 games.

2. LA GALAXY (9-3-11), 2. Like many teams plagued by ties this season, the Galaxy has played three consecutive deadlocks. The streak follows a four-game win streak that was preceded by two more draws. In this one, defender Daniel Steres headed home Steven Gerrard’s corner kick to equalize. Keeper Brian Rowe left the game after taking a blow to the head in a collision.

3. NEW YORK CITY (10-7-8), 3. A week after garnering a point in a 0-0 tie at San Jose, NYCFC got another tie in a goalfest it led twice, including at 3-2 in stoppage time with David Villa’s second goal of the game. He’s tied for the league lead at 15, yet might have stiff MVP competition on his own team. Frank Lampard’s ninth goal in the last 10 games had provided a 1-0 advantage just before halftime.

4. NY RED BULLS (10-9-6), 4. Deputizing for Dax McCarty (fractured tibia), Sean Davis assisted on Bradley Wright-Phillips’ pair of goals, the second of which broke Juan Pablo Angel’s team record of 58 in regular-season play. Wright-Phillips has scored 14 goals, second-best in the league, since enduring a seven-game drought to open the season. Davis notched the third goal himself as NYRB extended its unbeaten streak to seven games.

5. COLORADO (11-3-9), 5. Two of the DPs came through to earn the Rapids a point at StubHub Center in a matchup of the two teams with the fewest losses. A Shkelzen Gashi goal and five Tim Howard saves added up to a sixth tie in the last 10 games, only one of which is a defeat, which is why they are only three points behind FCD in the league standings with two games in hand.

6. TORONTO FC (10-7-7), 7. Even when he’s off the field of play he’s dangerous. That would be Sebastian Giovinco, whose corner kick Jozy Altidore drilled into the net for a third goal in the last four games. Yet TFC failed to exploit a man-advantage for the entire second half when a victory would have claimed the Eastern Conference lead.

7. MONTREAL (8-6-9), 6. The Impact conceded an equalizer a minute after Ignacio Piatti opened the scoring in the 21st minute and allowed two more goals on either side of halftime. Centerbacks Laurent Ciman and Victor Cabrera were out of sync and the midfielders couldn’t contain their Red Bull counterparts.

8. SPORTING KC (10-11-5), 10. Two Dom Dwyer goals and several excellent Alec Kann saves placed SKC in position to win at Dallas, but Kann allowed a deflected cross to bounce off the bar and FCD scored on the rebound. Of Dwyer’s 12 goals, half of them have occurred in his two-goal games.

9. REAL SALT LAKE (10-8-7), 9. Outshot 9-5 and outscored 2-0 in the first half, RSL got a goal back when Yura Movsisyan poked the ball away from keeper Stefan Frei and evaded several challenges to set up Joao Plata’s seventh goal of 2016.

10. SAN JOSE (7-6-10), 11. Quakes win! Quakes win! Quakes win, on the road, which they had failed to do this season in 11 previous attempts. Two players that desperately needed to score goals did just that. Quincy Amarikwa and Simon Dawkins had only two tallies apiece coming into the game; they scored 15 minutes into the first and second halves, respectively, and San Jose added a fifth game to its unbeaten streak.

11. PORTLAND (8-9-8), 8. Down 2-0 after half an hour in a triple-digit RFK sweatbox, the Timbers generated just three shots on goal and needed six Jake Gleeson saves to keep it close. They have lost three of the last four after rolling through nine games unbeaten.

12. PHILADELPHIA (9-8-7), 13. The debut of Alejandro Bedoya and return of Charlie Davies to Gillette Stadium couldn’t have gone much better. The former Boston College star went 72 minutes and Davies earned an assist as the Union rolled over the Revs to snap a four-game winless skid. C.J. Sapong scored in the second minute, and goals three minutes by Chris Pontius and Richie Marquez early in the second half broke the game open. Davies entered as a sub in the 83rd minute as fans chanted his name and he assisted on Roland Alberg’s goal in stoppage time.

13. SEATTLE (8-12-3), 14. A goal and assist for newcomer Nicolas Lodeiro overrode Frei’s giveaway that enabled RSL to get within a goal. Lodeiro first-timed a shot into the top corner to put Seattle ahead and served up a near-post cross that Jordan Morris headed home for the winner. A Clint Dempsey PK off the crossbar didn’t affect the outcome. The Sounders are 2-0-1 (W-L-T) since Lodeiro arrived and Brian Schmetzer replaced Sigi Schmid.

14. ORLANDO CITY (5-6-12), 15. After setting up Cyle Larin to score the tying goal, Kaka followed up a Larin shot off the bar to give the Lions a 2-1 lead they took into halftime but squandered in the second half. Amazing stat: nine of OCSC’s dozen ties have been 2-2 games.

15. D.C. UNITED (6-8-9), 17. A solid team effort and early goals by Steve Birnbaum and Luciano Acosta snapped a six-game winless streak. United also got a shutout after conceding a dozen goals in those six matches.

16. VANCOUVER (8-11-6), 12. A rare gaffe by keeper David Ousted – while saving a shot he fell over the goal line holding the ball – set the ‘Caps en route to their third straight loss. They scored from a corner kick in stoppage time after a Blas Perez shot hit the crossbar in the 78th minute. Their next two league games are against SKC and LA on the road, where they are 3-8-1 and have been outscored 26-14.

17. HOUSTON (4-10-8), 18. The Dynamo held out down a man for the entire second half after Abdoulie Mansally’s red card. Cristian Maidana whistled a shot inside the post from a sharp angle to forge a 1-0 lead it couldn’t retain 11v11. Houston is winless, with four ties, in the last six games.

18. NEW ENGLAND (6-10-8), 16.  Down a goal at home after two minutes, the Revs threatened a few times in the first half -- including a Kei Kamara shot that bounced off the post -- but shortly after the break conceded twice within three minutes. After a third straight defeat they are 3-6-1 in their last 10 games yet just a point out of a playoff spot.

19. COLUMBUS (3-18-11), 20. Crew SC tied its sixth consecutive home game -- a league record -- and Ethan Finlay snapped a personal 15-game goal drought by netting a pair of goals, which is one more than he’d scored in 2016. Federico Higuain played 74 minutes in his third game back after missing six matches to rehab sports-hernia surgery.

20. CHICAGO (4-11-7), 19. The Fire scored early and late to stay unbeaten at home in the last seven home games. Matt Polster set up Jan Goossens to tally his second Fire goal and a nice cross from Brandon Vincent enabled captain Razvan Cocis to equalize in the 78th minute.
