Rio Olympics: Women's Soccer, Semifinals

Canada is the only team left in the Olympic women's soccer competition that made the semifinals four years ago, and it enters Tuesday's semifinals against Germany, which it beat in their final group game, at the Rio Olympics as the only unbeaten and untied team. The other semifinal: Brazil-Sweden.

Semifinalists' Medals:
Brazil: Silver (2004, 2008)
Germany: Bronze (2000, 2004, 2008)
Canada: Bronze (2012)
Sweden: -

Starters Christine Sinclair, Sophie Schmidt, Desiree Scott and Diana Matheson are among the holdovers from the team that lost the epic match to the USA, 4-3, in the semifinals at Manchester's Old Trafford four years ago.

But the Canadians have the youngest team left in the tournament with first-year NWSL players Shelina Zadorsky and Janine Beckie, Western Virginia University seniors Kadeisha Buchanan and Ashley Lawrence and 18-year-old Jessie Fleming, who will join American phenom Mallory Pugh, all started in the 1-0 win over France in the quarterfinals and Duke's Rebecca Quinn and 17-year-old Deanne Rose came off the bench.
