“It was an honor to be the captain, but from today I stop being captain. I will send a message to [Brazil national team coach]
Tite that from now he can look for another
captain.”

Neymar, saying he doesn't want to captain Brazil again and telling his critics they "will have to shut up" after leading Brazil to the Olympic gold medal in
men's soccer. Earlier in the tournament, he had been heavily criticized and compared unfavorably to
Marta, who also wore the No. 10 jersey for the Brazil women at the Olympics. (

He is still very young. Captain is a big deal did he help others in the game. Does he help the team on the practice field?
He was captain in name only. What do you guys think of making 5 on the pks. I think Brazil was hoping they would win it before he took his.
I have to disagree on your comment about his taking the the PK, Richard. Research has show conversion rates during shootouts go down as the pressure ratchets up later in the round and many teams slot their best PK takers in as number 5. Portugal does this with Ronaldo for example. The danger of course is that you can lose before you get to your best guy for which Portugal was roundly condemned in one of the PK shootout loses a few years ago. As far as Neymar as captain, I think it's probably a good idea to go with another just to take the pressure off a young guy, but captain or not, he will always be the one who shoulders the blame if they lose.
I made a study on pks if it comes to pks I want to win them.
Neymar run a lot in that game. He made the last one but. If the German keeper did not guess and just started low and stayed low and reacted to the shot. The Germans could have had a big enough to lead by that time it might not have mattered what he did on the 5 th kick.
In baseball do you save your best pitcher for the last game or use him in the first game. Save him for last he may never pitch in a game.
Making the first kick is so important. It is why winning the coin toss is also important to the outcome.
Well, obviously, man! I'm not sure about the fetish for giving guys like Neymar (supremely skilled, but moody and sometimes still a bit immature on the field) and Messi (supremely skilled but an introvert) the captancies of their national teams. Guys like Mascherano and David Luiz are there to lead. Just let Neymar and Messi play!
Agree with you Schultz. Who should be Captaining the USMNT, in your mind?
Someone who can do his job on the field and can still help others with the team concept.
On the practice field a serious guy who is all about the team and takes no crap.
On the US I have no idea who that would be.
