NASL Rewind: Edmonton rises with strong goalkeeping

FC Edmonton, whose last four victories have been 1-0 scorelines, has played one less game than second-place New York, which trails by two points, and spring champ Indy Eleven, which trails by three points.
Goalkeeper Matt VanOekel, who made nine saves against Tampa Bay, has posted a league-high 10 shutouts in 19 games and a has made a league-high 70 saves in 2016 for Edmonton.
“It’s a critical win for us to be honest," said FC Edmonton coach Colin Miller. "Matt VanOekel was fantastic tonight, absolutely fantastic, and absolutely the difference here between the two [teams].”

Ft. Lauderdale is undefeated in three games since the arrival of Amauri, the 36-year-old Brazilian-born striker who spent most of his career in Italy and played once for the Azzurri. Amauri scored once in last week's 2-0 win over Miami and twice in a 3-1 win on Saturday against Ottawa, the second a spectacular bicycle kick.
