NASL Rewind: Teenager Velela debuts for Cosmos

Alexis Velela, the 18-year-old Californian who signed for the Cosmos after playing in the 2015 U-17 World Cup, made his NASL debut when he replaced injured Ayoze  in the 42nd minute of the Cosmos' 0-0 tie at Ft. Lauderdale.

The tie, after the Cosmos’ midweek 3-0 win over Indy Eleven, extended the Cosmos’ unbeaten streak to seven games and extended their lead at the top of fall standings to three points over second-place Edmonton and four points in the combined standings.

Indy Eleven, which went undefeated while winning the spring title to clinch a semifinal spot in the playoffs regardless of how its fares in the fall, settled for a 1-1 tie with Tampa Bay after the midweek loss to the Cosmos and has earned only two points in its last four games. But the tie with Tampa did keep intact Indy Eleven's 14-game home unbeaten streak.

Christian Ramirez’s 14th goal of the year gave Minnesota a 1-0 win over Rayo OKC for Minnesota’s first win after three straight ties. The victory boosted Minnesota’s chances of a semifinal spot as it’s a comfortable seven points ahead of fifth place Carolina in the overall standings.
