Real Madrid: James says he has Zidane's support

In a rare start with Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale both absent, Colombian star James Rodriguez scored a critical goal late in the first half of Real Madrid's 2-0 win at Espanyol.

James scored the opening goal as Real Madrid beat Espanyol for a record-tying 16th consecutive win in La Liga and moved three points clear at the top.

“I’ve not had a hard time, I’ve had the support of everyone, including the coach,” James said of Zinedine Zidane after the game. “I have a very good relationship with Zidane. We’re a close-knit team that always want to keep winning. I’m one more player and I’ve always wanted to be here."
