TV Report: NWSL playoff viewers jump 65 percent

The NWSL final won by the Western New York Flash in a shootout over the Washington Spirit averaged 180,000 viewers on Fox Sports 1, which pushed the playoff average to 133,000 viewers per game, up 65 percent from the 2015 average for the three playoff games.

The six NWSL games on FS1 in 2016 averaged 100,000 viewers, up 11 percent from the six games in 2015. The the average viewership for three regular-season games in 2016 was down  31 percent.

The 180,000 viewers for Sunday's final was the second-highest audience for an NWSL match. The highest audience was 190,000 for the Portland-Houston regular-season games that aired in 2014 on ESPN2.

The 2015 final averaged 167,000 viewers on FS1, and the 2014 final delivered 156,000 viewers on ESPN2.
