NASL Rewind: Rayo OKC completes playoff field

Rayo OKC clinched the fourth semifinal spot, joining the New York Cosmos, Indy Eleven and FC Edmonton in NASL postseason play, when the New York Cosmos knocked out Minnesota United with a 1-0 win over on Saturday. Rayo OKC finished the regular season with its fourth straight win, a 2-1 defeat of Indy Eleven.

New York Cosmos (No. 1 seed) vs. Rayo OKC (No. 4) 7 pm ET.

The 2015 champion Cosmos finished atop the Fall Season and Combined Season standings. Indy Eleven finished first in Spring Season standings, while FC Edmonton and Rayo OKC qualified for postseason play by finishing third and fourth, respectively, in the combined standings.

Minnesota had to settle for fifth place after succumbing to a goal by 18-year-old U.S. youth international Eric Calvillo in his first pro start. The Cosmos finished the regular season with three straight wins.

Rayo OKC finished the regular-season on a 10-game unbeaten streak with its win over Indy Eleven, which took the lead on a Nicki Paterson penalty kick before
Sebastian Velasquez equalized and Moises Hernandez hit the gamewinner.

Minnesota’s Christian Ramirez, who also won the Golden Boot in 2014, finished as the league’s leading scorer.
