Stanford defeated California, 4-1, to clinch its sixth Pac-12 championship in the past eight years. A wonderful goal by U.S. international Andi Sullivan -- her team-leading 11th goal of the
year -- in the 56th minute provided the decisive goal for the Cardinal (17-1-1).
Sullivan received a ball near midfield, beat her defender down the right side of the field twice, then curled a left-footed shot into the far post. She She has
scored in five consecutive games, accumulating seven goals over that span.
Michelle Xiao, Kyra Carusa and Beattie Goad also scored for the Cardinal, No. 1 in
the RPI rankings for all but one week.
Stanford’s 11 Pac-12 titles is tied with UCLA for the most of any program in conference history.
