Big 12 Women: Canadian stars rescue No. 1 West Virginia

No. 1 West Virginia rallied for a 3-2 overtime win over TCU in the Big 12 final at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City. The Mountaineers came back from 2-0 down to win their third title since moving to the Big 12.
The game-winner was scored by Canadian Ashley Lawrence just over six minutes into the first extra session.
This is the third postseason crown since the Mountaineers after they won the title in 2013 and 2014. West Virginia boasts an 11-2-1 all-time record at the event. With the victory, WVU earns the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship.
The Mountaineers went into the game without having given up a goal in Big 12 play all season, but TCU scored less than four minutes into the match on Michelle Prokof's goal. The Horned Frogs made it 2-0 late in the first half when junior Allison Ganter sprinted past the Mountaineer defense for her team-leading ninth goal of the season.

West Virginia cut the lead in the 59th minute on Michaela Abam's ninth goal of the season and evened the game up with just 102 seconds remaining in regulation when Kadeisha Buchanan, West Virginia's other Canadian star, converted following assists from Abam and Lawrence.
