NJCAA Division III: Richland and SUNY Broome take titles

Richland won its first NJCAA Division III men’s title since 2007 and sixth overall with a 4-0 victory over Camden County.

Sergio Lara scored two goals in the first half for Texas school. Both of Lara’s scores came off assists from Mikkel Rohde, who also scored a goal for Richland. Rohde was named the tournament MVP with one goal and four assists. David Fragua also scored a goal for the Richland.

The Thunderducks' 4-0 margin of victory tied for highest all-time in the DIII final, matching the spread achieved by Herkimer in 2000 and themselves in 2002.

SUNY Broome won its third NJCAA Division III women’s championship with a 3-0 win over New York rival Erie.

Kaelyn Michitti scored all three goals in the match and was named tournament MVP and Most Valuable Offensive Player, totaling seven goals and two assists. Alexa Rudilosso assisted on all three goals.

The Hornets’ third title ties Richland and Brookdale for most in NJCAA Division III history.
