Soares, 27, started on the New England Revolution's 2014 MLS Cup runner-up team but chose to move to Europe instead of re-signing with the Revs. He had hoped to move to Italy but ended up at Viking after the deal collapsed.

The former Cal star played four seasons with New England and parts of two with Viking. He had signed a two-year agreement with AGF and leaves halfway through his first season.
