Canada: Octavio Zambrano is named national team coach

Canada Soccer named former MLS coach Octavio Zambrano as the new head coach of its men’s national team program. Zambrano will oversee the entire men's program.

The Ecuador native joins Canada Soccer after recently serving as head coach of Delfin in Ecuador's Serie A. He previously served as sporting director, head coach and technical director with El Nacional from 2014 to 2016 in the same league.

Zambrano coach the LA Galaxy and New York MetroStars and was an assistant with the Kansas City Wizards in 2009. He currently holds the second-highest winning percentage in league history with a .587 percentage in the regular season. He also worked in Moldova, Hungary and Colombia.

Interim coach Michael Findlay will continue as an assistant coach with the men’s national team, which has already been eliminated from the 2018 World Cup.
