MLS Week 3 Rewind: Timbers, Lions unbeaten and untied

The Portland Timbers, 4-2 winners over the Houston Dynamo, are the only team to win their first three games. Orlando City is the only other unbeaten and untied team, improving to 2-0-0 with its second win at its new stadium, a 2-1 win over the Philadelphia Union.

Atlanta United's Josef Martinez scored his fourth and fifth goals of the season as the expansion team crushed the previously unbeaten Chicago Fire, 4-0, before another sellout crowd (45,922 fans) at Georgia Tech’s Bobby Dodd Stadium.

TRIVIA. Atlanta has scored 11 goals in its first three games. To put that in perspective, Chicago and Seattle are the only expansion teams that have ever made the playoffs in their first seasons, and it took both of them eight games to score 11 games.
