U.S. Abroad: Lloyd hits winner in European debut

Carli Lloyd's first goal for Manchester City, a header in the 30th minute, was the winner as it beat Danish champion Fortuna Hjorring, 1-0, on the road in the first leg of their UEFA Women's Champions League quarterfinal series.

Former North Carolina star Lucy Bronze, who plays for England, hit the crossbar for City, which is playing in Europe's final eight for the first time.

Alex Morgan also made her European debut, starting for defending champion Lyon in a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg in a rematch of the 2016 final. In another German-French matchup of women's powers, Gina Lewandowski started for German champion Bayern Munich in its 1-0 win over Paris St. Germain.
