Hexagonal: USA gets result it wanted in Port of Spain

Mexico moved into first place in the Hexagonal with a 2-0 win over Costa Rica, but the bigger result from the USA's perspective was Trinidad & Tobago's 1-0 win over Panama, whose lead over the USA was reduced to one point..

Minnesota United's Kevin Molino, kicked off the team by previous coaches Stephen Hart and Tom Saintfiet for disciplinary reasons, scored the lone goal for T&T, which played its first Hex game under new coach Dennis Lawrence.

Javier Hernandez tied Jared Borgetti's record as Mexico's all-time leading scorer with 46 goals. His goal in the seventh minute ended a skid of 359 minutes without a goal.
