U.S. Abroad: Brooks out with hip injury

Health issues have dogged U.S. national team defender John Brooks all season -- back issues, then a sinus infection sidelined him for three of the six World Cup 2018 qualifiers the USA has played in 2016-17 -- and now he's sidelined again with a hip injury.

Hertha Berlin, which has four games left in the 2016-17 Bundesliga season, announced he will be out "for the time being."

Kicker reported that the 24-year-old defender complained of back pain after Hertha's 1-0 Bundesliga win against Wolfsburg on Saturday and he was later diagnosed with a "muscle tear in the hip region."
