Video Pick: Ethan Horvath debuts with howler and assist

The 21-year-old American goalkeeper Ethan Horvath made a memorable debut for Belgium’s Club Brugge. He gifted a goal to Royal Chraleroi by handing the ball to David Pollet after thinking a free kick had been called. But Horvath also assisted on the third goal of his team’s 3-1 win with a punt to Jose Izquierdo.

Club Brugge coach Michel Preud’homme -- the former Belgium goalkeeping great -- praised Horvath for shaking off the blunder, which he said was caused by a whistle from stands, by making some big saves in addition to setting up Pollet's goal.

I told my wife 2 years ago that this goalkeeper will be the best goalkeeper the US will produce even exceeding Tim Howard. He reminds me of Dion Zoff but much cooler and elegant. Not sure how MLS teams never picked him up but it's their loss..

I think he already moves, see's and commands better than Howard. I guess we will find out shortly how wedded Arena is to MLS, with not just EH but others.
