Carli Lloyd, who signed on a short-term deal with Manchester City in February, will get a chance to win her first English title when Manchester City plays Birmingham City in Saturday’s Women’sFA Cup final.

Manchester City’s England captain, Steph Houghton, says Lloyd has been a role model for her teammates.

“Apart from ability, she brings her experience andleadership,” Houghton says. “No matter if you are a 17-year-old or someone like myself, who is more experienced, you are still learning from her and how she applies herself.

“She isalways giving 100 percent, always wanting to do extra, always wanting to win. She has definitely brought a lot out of the other players and brought a lot to our side.”

“It was apowerful opportunity to be able to be a part of it and bring professional soccer and a professional club that will be run properly with the mindset of creating a legitimate pathway for the kids.”
