U.S. Abroad: Big finale for Yanks in Germany

Bobby Wood's Hamburg avoided a relegation playoff when it rallied to beat Wolfsburg, 2-1, on the final day of the Bundesliga season. Wood, who has been battling a knee injury, played the entire game for HSV, which won a goal by Gian-Luca Waldschmidt in the 88th minute. The loss sent Wolfsburg into the relegation playoffs.

Christian Pulisic was fouled for the penalty kick Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang converted to give Borussia Dortmund a 4-3 win over Werder Bremen that clinched third place and a spot in the UEFA Champions League group stage. The goal was Aubameyang's 31st of the season, setting a record for the most goals by a foreigner in a season.

Weston McKennie, 18, made his debut for Schalke 04 while fellow teenager Haji Wright dressed for the first time in the 1-1 tie at FC Ingolstadt. McKenzie, who joined Schalke from the FC Dallas academy program last summer, is the second youngest American to play in the Bundesliga after Pulisic.

BELGIUM. Ethan Horvath started for Club Brugge, which beat Gent, 2-1, to clinch second place in the Belgian playoffs and a place in next season's Champions League qualifiers.

MEXICO. Joe Corona started and Paul Arriola came off the bench for top-seed Tijuana, which fell to 2016 champion Torneo Apertura Tigres, 2-0, at home and exited the Torneo Clausura playoffs, 4-0, on aggregate in the semifinals.

Good news from Germany. Would still prefer for the Schalke boys to be with the U20s in Korea (and I think that experience would be better for their development too) but at least Weston got a run out and Haji made the bench. Hopefully all three of them see more first-team minutes next year.

The voice over on this is just stupid - and obviously it is more about them them than the game they were describing. Here's the sad part - I'm not surprised or shocked.

You see Christen Pulisic fouled for a pk. But they let their specialist take it and they win the game.

Can learn a lot from that move. Unless of course if the specialist missed it :)
