NASL Rewind: Miami rolls on with road win

Miami FC won its fourth straight game, 2-0, at Indy Eleven. Week 9’s other two games were also won by the visitors: North Carolina won, 2-1, at Puerto Rico, whose coach was fired last week, and Jacksonville beat San Francisco, 3-0.

Zach Steinberger scored twice for first-place Jacksonville, giving him four goals for the season, tied for top in the league with Indy Eleven’s Justin Braun. But Indy Eleven, runner-up to the New York Cosmos in 2016, has scored only eight goals in eight games and has yet to win a game this season.

The league’s other winless team, Puerto Rico, which fired head coach Adrian Whitbread and technical director Neil Sillett last week and named Marco Velez will be the interim head coach, has lost five in a row after opening with three ties.

• San Francisco’s loss dropped it from second to fifth place.

• Jacksonville’s win in San Francisco was its biggest in club history.

• North Carolina’s win was its third in four games and moved it from fourth to second place.

• Indy Eleven’s loss broke a league-record 21-game home unbeaten streak.
