Confederations Cup: Referees Geiger and Marrufo selected

American referees Mark Geiger and Jair Marrufo have been selected to work at the Confederations Cup June 17-July 2 in Russia. Geiger is one of nine referees picked for the tournament, while Marrufo will work as a video assistant referee.

In addition, a pair of MLS assistant referees -- American CJ Morgante and Canadian Joe Fletcher -- were selected to work at the tournament. The quartet is the entire Concacaf representation at the tournament.

The Confederations Cup will include VAR tests for the first time to provide replays on goals, penalties, direct red cards and cases of mistaken identity.
