Japan beats and ties U.S. U-20 women

Adrienne Richardson of the Minnesota Thunder scored and assisted in the U.S. U-20 women’s national team’s 2-2 tie with Japan two days after the USA fell, 2-1 to Japan during Coach Jitka Klimkova’s training camp in Carson, California.

After equalizing in the 25th minute, Richardson assisted on a go-ahead goal from Real Colorado’s Sophia Smith, but Japan’s Asato Miyagawa responded 13 minutes later in the 2-2 tie.

In the 2-1 loss, Real Colorado’s Jaelin Howell assisted on Colorado Rush’s Civana Kuhlman goal in the 88th minute after Japan had taken a 12th minute lead, but Japan scored the gamewinner in stoppage time.
