Video Pick (TBT): When Zidane the player reigned

On Saturday, Zinedine Zidane aims to win a second straight UEFA Champions League title as coach of Real Madrid. We look back at the Frenchman’s playing days, when three-time World Player of the Year Zizou hoisted the Champions League with Real Madrid in 2002 after scoring the winning goal against Bayer Leverkusen, and his 1998 World Cup win, when he scored twice in the final.

Zidane scores the gamewinner in Real Madrid’s 2-1 Champions League final in 2002 in Glasgow:

Zidane leads France to the 1998 World Cup title:

One of the most impressive records you will ever see especially when it include the World Cup. He needs to be studied as his body of work is near impossible to replicate. Unless folks like Messi and Ronaldo can win a World Cup they will always be rated less than Zidane. He is the best overall player/coach that ever lived.
