Report: T&T drops Quakes' Cato in family dispute

The San Jose Earthquakes' Cordell Cato, who has started all four Hexagonal matches, was dropped from Trinidad & Tobago's squad for the Soca Warriors' World Cup qualifier against the USA on Thursday for what a TTFA spokesperson said was disciplinary reasons.

Wired868 reported that head coach Dennis Lawrence dropped Cato after he brought his wife and child to the team camp in Colorado and asked Lawrence if they could spent the night with him at the team hotel or together at a separate hotel.

Cato's exclusion presents a big problem for Lawrence as three other wingers -- Levi Garcia, Jomal Williams and Akeem Roach -- are out with injuries.

Most of Lawrence's team has been training in Boulder for the game in Commerce City for 10 days. Four other MLS players were called in.

Wired868 also reported that the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association complained to MLS about its clubs releasing players early to the U.S. national team but not to the Soca Warriors. The FIFA transfer window during which clubs are obligated to release players didn't open until Monday.

Of the five T&T players in MLS -- Joevin Jones, Kevin Molino, Kenwyne Jones, Mekeil Williams and Cato -- all but Williams played in Week 14.

T&T Roster:
GOALKEEPERS:  Jan Michael Williams, Marvin Phillip, Adrian Foncette.
DEFENDERS: Carlos Edwards, Aubrey David, Alvin Jones, Radanfah Abu Bakr, Mekeil Williams, Triston Hodge, Sheldon Bateau, Daneil Cyrus, Curtis Gonzales.
MIDFIELDERS: Joevin Jones, Andre Boucaud, Kevan George, Hashim Arcia, Khaleem Hyland, Leston Paul, Kevin Molino, Hughtun Hector, Nathan Lewis.
FORWARDS: Shahdon Winchester, Jamille Boatswain, Kenwyne Jones.

Cato's behavior might sound odd, until you consifer the T&T FA hasn't paid the players for their last WC qualifier....
