What They're Saying: Bruce Arena

"I’m trying to have a little bit of consistency, and sometimes you’ve just got to make a decision. All things being equal, you decide to stick with one guy and you stay with him until he proves otherwise."

-- Bruce Arena, saying he couldn't find a lot of rhyme or reason to a lot of the call-ups of Jurgen Klinsmann, his predecessor as U.S. national team coach, for the last two or three years. (Goal.com)

Klinsmann gave Yedlin and Pulisic their chances, and left Dax and Benny out consistently. If he thinks Dax McCarty is the key to success he is up in the night. Oh and after all the whining, he dropped Feilhaber. Nagbe wasn't eligible, Cameron and Deuce had health issues. Playing Bradley consistently is a mistake both have made and it defies logic. Choosing Wondo, as both have, is also troubling after the Belgium debacle.

Pretty much agree with you Tork. Neither coach could figure out how to utilize the one player capable of delivering a few world class sitters per game, Feilhaber. Player selections, to some extent will always be open to debate. What should not happen, is finger pointing from one USMNT coach about another. Not sure Arena is up for this go.

Nagbe and villafana are big differences in the starting 11. Agree that taking shots at the former coach is only a distraction and not helpful. If we can identify a CB as good or better than Cameron in that position and that pairs well with Brooks, we can start Cameron at the 6 and move Bradley to the bench.

Agreed with DN and JV. Definitely some concern with our center back pairings. I'm ready to put KA in Bradley's spot or Cameron. Williams isn't here so that's a no go. At this time I prefer CP coming in from the right. Fabian is way to good a player to have looked the way he did, something is fishy in Denmark.
