MLS Today: Orlando City's Ramos has red card rescinded

An appeal lodged by Orlando City has been upheld by the Independent Panel, which announced Wednesday it rescinded a red card issued to defender Rafael Ramos.

Ramos was sent off by referee Ted Unkel after he and Fire defender Brandon Vincent collided in the 26th minute of their 0-0 tie on Sunday.

The Independent Panel, which consists of one representative each from the United States Soccer Federation, Canadian Soccer Association, and the Professional Referees Organization, ruled that Ramos was not guilty of serious foul play.

Ramos is eligible to play next week in the Lions' next league match versus Montreal.

(Orlando City did not appeal a subsequent red card issued to midfielder Antonio Nocerino.)

The successful appeal leaves Orlando City with its full allotment of two per season, including playoffs. Each MLS team is entitled to two unsuccessful appeals in 2017.

The right call to rescind that red. What a horrendous call. .... I like the +1 scoring system used to track the scoring leaders. I'm assuming it denotes pk goal. Never seen that before

I think it means that the player scored that number of goals since the last listing actually.
