TV: Mexico-USA draws 4.5 million on Univision networks

The Mexico-USA game that aired Sunday night from Azteca Stadium on Univision and UDN averaged 4.5 million viewers, the most for a World Cup qualifier on a U.S. network since 2013.

That's almost as many viewers as the NHL averaged -- 4,762,000 -- for the six games of the Stanley Cup final betweet Pittsburgh and Nashville on NBC and NBCSN.

Univision the No. 1 broadcast station during the Mexico-USA time-period among viewers in Los Angeles, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix, and among adults 18-49 in Los Angeles, Miami, Houston, Dallas, San Francisco, Phoenix and Sacramento.

Austin Karp‏ of Sports Business Journal reported that the USA-Mexico averaged 2.3 million (fast nationals) on FS1, almost double its audience for USA-Mexico last November.

    Well they must have been 4.5 million annoyed viewers for that government owned station. Imagine if Bradley would have scored on that second shot. I believe the Mexican coach would have been fired the same day. That is always the fun part about playing and beating Mexico. Getting their coaches fired.
