What They're Saying: Federico Allende

"We know that top division players don't like contact, they don't like if we waste time or if we play dirty. So that was the way to do it. Soccer is like that. Soccer is for the clever."

-- Federico Allende, a defender for fourth-division club Sport Pacifico, bragging about using a needle hidden in his shin guard against strikers from first-division club Estudiantes in his team's 3-2 win in the Copa Argentina. (Vorterix Radio via BBC)

What a bunch of bs/crap!Soccer is FOR the clever player, and most certainly NOT for the stupid or dirty player!!! I am sad to say that many times I'd heard of these tactics even while coaching college and then club teams, and when I found one of MY players doing that sh*t, he was immediately dropped from the team and reported for discipline! Even sadder still, players who were discovered doing such crap were, I know I will get crap for saying this, my own people, Latinos no matter what country. So for the player named above, for saying that, he must really a piss-poor and unscrupulous player.
