Confederations Cup: Germany holds off Socceroos

Germany's experimental team got off to a winning start at the Confederations Cup when it beat Australia, 3-2.

Lars Stindl, one of nine Germans who entered the tournament with less than three caps, put Germany ahead before Celtic's Tom Rogic equalized late in the first half.

Paris St. Germain's Julian Draxler converted a penalty kick just before the half to made it 2-1 after 22-year-old Leon Goretzka was fouled. Goretzka, who plays for Schalke 04, scored the third goal three minutes after the break.
