What They're Saying: Haris Medunjanin

"I think you need to be honest, and I didn't feel a kick. It was just a push."

-- Philadelphia Union midfielder Haris Medunjanin on why he went to referee Sorin Stocia in the Union's game against D.C. United and got Luciano Acosta's red card rescinded after telling Stocia Acosta did not kick him and he didn't think the foul deserved a red card. (Philadelphia Union via Facebook)

I hope Sorin Stoica is not punished for rescinding the card. If anything, polling his ARs for confirmation before issuing the card should be more the issue. The most important thing was to get the call correct and that was accomplished. It wasn't pretty, but it didn't bring the game into disrepute.

I was there, and other than utterly confusing the crowd (no replay shown on the board), it ultimately was the right call. Haris is a class act!

Impressive display of sporting behavior. The world needs more of this...
