NWSL Rewind: Ohai 'devastated' by knee injury

Houston Dash forward Kealia Ohai, who tied for the most goals in the NWSL with 11 in 2016, was lost for the rest of the 2017 season.

She suffered an ACL sprain and medial meniscus tear in her left knee in the second half of the 2-0 win at Orlando, the first under interim head coach Omar Morales.
“I’m devastated by the news," said Ohai, "but also excited for this challenge."

Ohai, the final remaining member of the original Dash squad from 2014, scored two goals and tallied two assists in 10 starts this season.

“The injury to Kealia is a big hit to the team, not only on the field but off the field due to the leader that she is," said Morales. "With her being the captain, you are losing a big piece of your team."

The win at Orlando snapped a six-game losing streak and featured Carli Lloyd's first goal of the season.

DATEBOOK. The Dash will be in action against Boston on Wednesday in a BBVA Compass Stadium doubleheader that opens with the Dynamo against Sporting Kansas City in the U.S. Open Cup.

All but first-place North Carolina and Washington will be in action on Wednesday. The slate of other games: Sky Blue FC-Orlando, Portland-Sky Blue FC and Seattle-Chicago.
