Sporting Kansas City reclaimed first place from the FC Dallas (which has two games in hand) in the Western Conference thanks to its 1-1 tie with Philadelphia Union. MLS heads into its summer break for
the next two weekends for the Gold Cup. Six teams will be in action next week in the U.S. Open Cup.
Diego Rubio put SKC ahead in the 49th minute, but the Union salvaged a point
thanks to Dutchman Roland Alberg's 69th-minute penalty kick.
U.S. U-20 captain Erik Palmer-Brown made his first MLS appearance for SKC since October 2015, joining Ike
Opara in central defense. Graham Zusi and Matt Besler are away on Gold Cup duty.
