Ajax behind the eight-ball

Ajax, last season's Europa League runner-up to Manchester City, faces a challenge to reach the Europa League group stage after a 1-0 home loss Norwegian side Rosenborg. Ajax was knocked out of the Champions League qualifiers by Nice and lost its Eredivisie season-opener to Heracles Almelo.

Since it's run the Europa League final, Coach Peter Bosz left for Borussia Dortmund and captain Davy Klaassen moved to Everton.
