What They're Saying: Patrick Vieira

"I'm disappointed because when you have the VR and you see the replay and keep a penalty, I'm just asking myself, 'Why did we spend so much time opening our door for people to come to explain to us what is the VR job and what they're going to do and what will happen?' It's really disappointing for us on that side."

-- New York City FC coach Patrick Vieira, unhappy Video Review didn't overturn a penalty for a foul on Sacha Kljestan that led to the New York Red Bulls' tying goal in their 1-1 tie.

Now the VAR is doing what the referee has been doing for ages, make-up calls. The ref and the VAR missed an early legitimate PK for RBNY that was not called. The call was simply a make-up one.

What a crybaby. RBNY has another clear penalty not given, hit the woodwork twice, and generally played City off the field. City had to completely change the way they play and they just sat back the entire game. Credit to them for scoring on one of the two chances over the 90 minutes but dude should be thankful his team got a point.

He is complaining about the specific incident, not the outcome of the entire game. If calls are still that subjective under VAR then get rid of it and just leave the decision with the ref.
