What They're Saying: Bob Lilley

"He’s doing things instinctively, at 8-, 9- 10-years-old that I’m struggling to get [players to do]. Sometimes you’ve got good athletes at our level but they don’t tactically see the game, they don’t feel the game. They weren’t watching soccer at four, five, six, seven. they weren’t absorbed in the game the way Christian was at those ages."

It depends how long they have been playing the game. If their parents and siblings were players. I have seen some great teams of under 9 that play 11 on a side that play like little professionals. On those teams I have seen as many as 7 former players working with those teams. So it can be done depending on all those things I have mentioned.
