As expected, New Zealand qualified for the World Cup 2018 intercontinental playoff in November when it won the Oceania playoff, tying the Solomon Islands, 2-2, in the second leg to give the All Whites
an 8-3 aggregate victory.
Kosta Barbarouses' crosses created both goals -- the first by
Myer Bevan at the second attempt and the second an own goal by
Haddis Gagame.
New Zealand is still considered a longshot to travel to Russia. It will have to face South America's No. 5 team in a playoff.
