Orlando City SC midfielder
Will Johnson has been suspended by MLS pending investigations by the league and the Orlando Police Department into his arrest on Wednesday on charges of misdemeanor
battery in connection with an alleged domestic incident.
Johnson, who joined Orlando City in 2017, was booked into the Orange County jail Wednesday morning following his arrest.
WFTV
reported the police report stated that the incident stemmed from an argument between Johnson and his wife
and Johnson "Tackled her by wrapping both of his arms completely around her waist. (His wife) fell to the ground and hit the right side of her head on the brick patio. (She) also scrapped her right
knee, left hand and right arm from the fall."
Johnson has played 25 of 27 games for the Lions and was on course to set a personal high for games played in a season. He's in his 11th MLS
season and been on two teams -- Real Salt Lake (2008) and Portland (2015) -- that won MLS Cups. He was a member of Toronto FC in 2016 when it was MLS runner-up.
In June, Orlando City
striker
Cyle Larin, another Canadian international, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence. Larin missed three MLS matches but has returned to action while going through MLS's
Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health program.
Did the player have any marks on him? I guess not or she would have been arrested as well.
My moms side is from Canada and very very easy going. Not a normal Canadien act. There might be something behind the scenes. Not good.
