A first-half hat trick from Josef Martinez (photo), including the fastest goal in Atlanta United history (74 seconds), was followed by goals from Anton Walkes, Kevin Kratz, Yamil Asad and Tito Villalba.
When Martinez had completed his hat trick in the 38th minutes, giving him 13 goals in 13 games, the Revs had been reduced to nine players following straight red cards to Xavier Kouassi and Antonio Milnar Delamea -- both on Video Review.
The game was the second at Mercedes-Benz Stadium and drew a crowd of 42,511. The MBS turf got the better of the Revs' Teal Bunbury, who tumbled to the ground with no one on him, leading to a turnover that produced Atlanta's sixth goal scored by Yamil Asad.
Atlanta United head coach Tata Martino: “Forgive me for sounding boring but I am going to repeat that we played a large part of the game up two players. I do want to say that I respect how our team played after that but that had a big impact.”
